Do I need a portfolio?

 SHARE YOUR WORK !

Do you want to share your amazing pictures to everyone, or would you rather keep them all to yourself? In this blog, I will be talking about portfolios and go into detail on digital portfolios and physical, printed portfolios.

What is a portfolio?
A portfolio is basically a collection of your pictures that represent who you are as a photographer. For example, if you have pictures of weddings, you are a wedding picture type of person. If you have pictures of people posing, then you are a portrait picture kind of person. The list of people go on and on.

Do I use a Digital or Printed Portfolio?
Before we get into further detail about which one you may choose, we need to know the difference between the two. A digital portfolio explains itself already, a digital portfolio contains 10-15 pictures and is made on the computer. A printed portfolio is a collection of your work in a book, like a picture book.

How do I make a Digital Portfolio?
Now what you are going to do is to find the pictures that best fit who you are, make sure they are edited so that more people get attracted to them, write some context about you and your pictures so that the viewers don't get confused and then post it if you may.

How about a Printed One?
For this you have to check through the work you have done and pick the ones you like, choose them and get them printed out, once they are all printed out you are going to want to buy a folder or portfolio for yourself and paste you pictures on it and then there you go.

Now is it only for me or others too?
Well that is completely up to you my friend, you can either have it private (for you, your parents, friends, relatives, etc...) or you can post it online for the whole world to see and for the other photographers get an inspiration to make their own portfolios.
