Visual art form
According to the all knowing Wikipedia, photography is the art, application, and practice of creating images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film, pretty long definition if you ask me. You may just say it is the art of taking pictures, that's it.

To start of with photography, we first have to learn what are the basics of the art of taking amazing pictures. One of them being the most obvious, get any sort of camera, this can be a phone camera or a regular Canon, Sony or Nikon Camera. Remember you can't start something without its requirements.

Here are some basic tips to help in your photography adventure:

1.Learn how to hold the camera properly

The proper way to hold the camera is to hold the camera with your right hand and place your left hand underneath the lens of the camera to add support to the weight of the camera. Look at the following diagram.

You can also get a tripod, so that your arms and hands won't get tired after holding the camera.

    2.Learn the different camera angles

In photography, you also need to learn the different angles of taking pictures, so that your pictures don't look the same and bland at the same angle. Learning camera angles like the eye-level shot, Low angle, high angle, close up shot, long shot, etc. will improve your picture varieties. The following video should give an explanation for each type of angles.

3.Learn the different picture settings

Things like shutter speed, ISO and aperture are the basic settings that you must know in your camera, and you need to know how and when to use each setting. Other settings include: Camera mode, metering mode, focus mode, focus area, white balance, file format, drive mode, long exposure noise reduction,  high ISO noise reduction, color space, image stabilization and HDR/DRO. But don't learn these yet, these are for more advanced topics. But, you will know how to use these if  you were to keep up to date with the posts. The Exposure Triangle - A Beginner's Guide

4. Watch other tutorials on YouTube
The internet is full of breakthroughs, tutorials and guides for you to watch and learn from. What is on this blog is just the basics for beginners, the other tutorials will give more specific details and guides on how to use the camera itself.

5.Remember that the only limitation is your imagination
Always start off basic when you are starting things. When starting photography and you don't know where to start, you can go for a walk, look around, see what catches your attention, maybe even look at the work of other famous photographers, their works can also give you ideas. Anyways, go have fun taking pictures.

Did you know:
That the first camera ever made took 8 hours to take one picture?
That the first camera's size was about the same as a room?
Pretty crazy facts if you ask me, still wondering how they move the first camera around.
